Challenge:
You bought an e-tractor unit –
and suddenly lost four tonnes of payload?
This is precisely the reality for many fleets. Although EU Directive 96/53/EC for zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) allows a total weight of up to 42 tonnes, the axle weight limits remain unchanged.
The catch: e-tractor units weigh two to four tonnes more than their diesel counterparts. With form-fitting loads placed against the bulkhead, the realisable payload is drastically reduced – in some cases by up to four tonnes!
